We are so happy to be returning to Charlotte for the Walk this year! Freedom Park will be hopping on May 10th! Due to sporting events on Saturday, parking is going to be on a very limited basis! IF YOU REQUIRE HANDICAPPED PARKING, YOU MUST NOTIFY US PRIOR TO THE EVENT! There will be a shuttle service available at no charge, and will be running every 15 minutes throughout the event. We are encouraging everyone to utilize the service!
Parking for the shuttle service will be at the Parson's Building, 4701 Hedgemore Drive, Charlotte, NC 28209. It is located behind Pfeiffer University off of Park Road, just a few minutes from the park. Turn off of Park Road onto Mockingbird Lane. follow Mockingbird Lane to the end and the Parson's Building will be right in front of you. You may park in any available parking space around the sides and back of the building. The shuttle will be picking up/dropping off at the building entrance on the back side of the building. There are cameras overlooking the parking lot, but please don't leave valuables in plain view, and lock your vehicle. We will also have volunteers stationed at the site to help.
We will be walking around the lake at Freedom Park which is about 1 mile and is relatively flat. You may choose to go either 1 or 2 laps, but this is a non-competitive Walk. There are benches available along the route for those who may need them. There is some seating available at the park, and it is first come, first serve. However, these seats are in direct sunlight, so you may want to consider bringing an umbrella and sunscreen. We also encourage you to bring a chair or a blanket for you and your family members. We will have a few non-food vendors at the event this year as well, so be sure to bring extra money if you wish to purchase items from them. We will be posting the vendors as the event gets closer. There will be food and water available to all our guests at no charge. Just a reminder, this is a rain or shine event, so please plan accordingly.
Children are always welcome at our events! The walk route is paved, so feel free to bring your strollers. Well behaved pets are also welcome, but must remained on leash at all times. Owners are asked to please be responsible and clean up after your pets.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the Walk!
