The National Kidney Foundation of Indiana continues to be focused on the health and safety of our patients, medical professionals, staff and volunteers.  We also know that our South Bend Kidney Walk represent an opportunity to come together as a community and demonstrate our shared commitment to the lives of kidney patients and their families. People like you.

Like you, we’ve been closely monitoring the coronavirus and coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, and the need to take appropriate precautions to protect those most at risk. Your health and safety are our top priority!

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), older adults and people with kidney disease or other chronic conditions are at greater risk of experiencing serious coronavirus illness. It is especially important for patients to take preventive measures aimed at reducing the likelihood of exposure. This includes avoiding crowds and public spaces.

After careful consideration and following the CDC’s most recent recommendation, we’ve decided to make a change to our South Bend Kidney Walk scheduled for May 16, 2020. Our plan is to reschedule it for Saturday, September 26, 2020.  We believe this decision, though not ideal, is in the best interest of you and the entire kidney community as we work to protect the patients and families at the heart of our organization’s mission. We will follow up with details soon regarding our event!
