How to Participate
There are many ways to get involved in the National Kidney Foundation's Kidney Walk!
- Make a Donation: Making a personal or corporate donation to a participant is an easy way to support the NKF Kidney Walk. If you don't know someone who is walking in your local event, you can make a general donation.
- Form a Team: One of the most rewarding ways to participate in the NKF Kidney Walk is to create a team and recruit family, friends and coworkers to participate and raise funds. Teams represent companies, organizations, families, schools and clubs and can range from as few as five walkers to hundreds!
- Walk as an individual: Register for an upcoming NKF Kidney Walk scheduled near you and raise funds as an individual.
- Participate as a Virtual Walker: You can also help support the Kidney Walk as a Virtual Walker. Virtual Walkers are able to compete for the same fundraising prizes and will receive recognition after the walk. Raise funds online, make a personal donation or hold a rummage sale to benefit your "Virtual Walk Team" or cash in the loose change collecting in your couch! The best part? You can mail all collected donations to the NKF office, sleep in the day of the walk, and rest assured that we will put your dollars to work! Keep in mind that fundraising tips and coaching are available from the NKF for your Virtual Team.
- Volunteer: Hosting the NKF Kidney Walk takes many dedicated volunteers. Volunteer opportunities range from serving on a planning committee to helping on the day of the event. Contact your local office if you are interested in volunteering.
- Become a Sponsor: Local and national sponsorship opportunities enable companies to gain valuable exposure and support the programs and services of the National Kidney Foundation. - Participate in the Pin Up Program: Pinups are available for your use to help promote the Kidney Walk and raise funds for your team. Pinups are postcard-sized flyers that Kidney Walk supporters are able to purchase for a donation of $1, $5, or more. The Kidney Walk supporter is able to write their name or the name of someone they would like to honor on the Pinup. Pinups are then posted in a visible area to show support of the Kidney Walk. Pinups are an easy and fun way to support the Kidney Walk! Pinups are also a great way to involve your community! Convenience stores, bowling centers, dry cleaners, movie theaters, and more are GREAT locations to sell pinups to benefit your Dialysis Unit Kidney Walk Team.
