Meet Grizz Chapman, the Kidney Walk National Chairman
Grizz Chapman , who plays a member of Tracy Morgan’s entourage on NBC-TV’s Emmy Award-winning show , “30 Rock” is also an advocate for kidney disease, a spokesperson for the National Kidney Foundation and the Kidney Walk National Chairman.
Two years ago, Grizz was diagnosed with kidney failure as a result of
uncontrolled high blood pressure. After shedding over 160 lbs, two years
of dialysis treatment while taping “30 Rock,” he underwent a successful kidney
transplant.
“After my diagnosis, I began a courageous fight for my health and my life,”
says Chapman. “This experience has taught me the importance of early detection
and of knowing the link between high blood pressure and kidney disease and also
of getting your kidneys screened if you’re at risk. I’ve learned about the
life-saving power of organ and tissue donation and how we need to
celebrate the heroism of donors and the positive impact they make on the lives
of recipients.”
Grizz
has been on a crusade to raise awareness of kidney disease and the effects it
has on overall health. Bringing light to the early warning signs, the risk
factors and the need for early detection can help prevent people
from progressing to kidney failure.
Grizz is thrilled to be able to meet many of you in person at some of the Kidney Walks being held around the country this year. To support Grizz's efforts by joining Team Grizz and to find out where he'll be walking this season, visit teamgrizz.com
